I at least finally have a sense of what unity looks like at least for the new General Secretary of the NCCCUSA. When someone asked him this morning about his vision for this Council, he ended his remarks with a hope that in the future, the NCCCUSA will no longer exist because we will be able to come together as the Church. We were working on a resolution urging the US Gov't to recognize the truth of the Armenian Genocide. During a debate about the language, people got insane about the parliamentary and at least half of the room was out of order and arguing! Excellent! Most fun we've had all day.

That was how we were greeted by this morning's Bible Study leader. One of her friends said that to her when she told that person she was coming here to lead the Bible Study. I arrived this morning in New Jersey for the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA General Assembly. After getting off of the plane at Newark Airport, I hopped the train to head to Woodbridge, where the meeting is located. I imagine this is pretty tedious to someone who has to do it every day, but it was rather novel for me. ( Read more... )

I feel like a spectacle today. I know that the purpose of the Ashes on my forehead are not to draw attention to myself. I know that their purpose is to focus my own spirit for the days ahead, and to call's God attention to me, to help me prepare for the resurrection.
