I have heard that they are completely, absolutely insane dogs -- like so constantly high-energy that they are exhausting to have around. Is there any truth to this?

From what I've read, that's absolutely true for the puppies (described as 'furry little terrors'), but not so much for the adult dogs (over about 3yo) who are supposed to be real couch potatoes most of the time -- except, of course, when they're running. Then again, it probably depends on the individual, too.
