Not good

Our main project server at work, a massive IBM machine implementing RAID5, just crashed two disks. We're all waiting to see what our great sysadmin can do. The last good backup of our project files was one week ago, but all of our internal docs and specs for current and new projects hasn't been backed up for six months at least. I'll keep that in mind, for sure. =) Actually, this morning all of the programmers couldn't help going over to our stressed-out admin and saying "it's been nice knowing you"... Of course, now I'm hoping that he doesn't "accidentally" torch my user account...

If there's any hint of needing more sysadmin work at all, I'll be sure to talk to you and get your resume to the right person ASAP.

As of this morning, our main project data was restored to the last back-up point, which was a week and a half ago. (Why we haven't been backing up every night, I don't know). Our internal documents archive has been utterly destroyed, so all of the developers are scouring their local boxes for copies of important documents.

All in all, things will be ok, but this was not good. We're in the process of buying a better back-up system ASAP.
