And most days it's really normal -- lots of practice, and people don't get tossed through walls anymore. I don't go there anymore, things might have changed.
...I swear to God, you literally do have the most interesting dojo I've ever heard of. It's like something out of an anime (you had to have known that was coming, right? ^_~) I'm going to guess it was mixed martial arts, or something of the sort? You seem to have so many different styles and sensei
( ... )
I've been sucked into the gaping hole that is TV show fandom through Torchwood and Supernatural recently. Fortunately it didn't expand further - I'm not a fan of TV.
Then I ventured into the Marvel comics fandom, and got myself addicted to one Logan/Peter.
I think I'm back to my good old Japanese manga/anime/games now though. By old I mean old like Black Jack. But then again my friend just got me into Bakumatsu Kikansetsu yesterday, which is relatively recent.
All in all, my fandom is all over the place right now - old, new, english, japanese, chinese.
I'm currently worried about my upcoming trip to Japan. Mainly on going completely broke at Ikebukuro east side's infamous otome road - I plan on drowning myself in a sea of doujinshi and bl comics.
Oh yeah, and I draw, but you already know that. XD
*laugh* Hello, dear! It's nice to hear you're around and alive. And yes... I feel as if all roads do lead back to anime in the end. ^^ How's Bakumatsu Kikansetsu, by the way? I had a bit of a hard time getting into the first two episodes. ^^;
You're going to Japan, though? How lovely! *chuckle* Yeah, the going broke thing is a very valid concern--especially since just everyday expenses there end up costing a bit more than you think they will. ^^; But oh, you will have so much fun on the path to being penniless! *chuckle* And do tell us how the otome road is--I haven't had a chance to go. ^^
I've added you to my f-list, just so I'll have a valid reason to be here, :-) I hope it's alright. I've read your Hyotei Roommates Arc before and I fell in love with them right from the start. I wish I can write fics as good as you do. Hyotei is my favorite team partly because the school and the reigning student image reminds me so much of my previous university, partly because I adore Atobe and his high-and-mighty craziness, but mostly because I love how you characterized them in your stories.
Now, to tell something about myself,... I'm Filipino too, turning 18 this June 28, and I'm currently a freshie majoring in Business Administration in probably the only exlusive-for-girls college in the whole country - which sucks a little bit. And um, I have a weakness for ube and taho and ripe mangoes... and the color purple. Ehehe... I don't know what else to tell... um, I hate cockroaches.
Why, hello, and lovely to meet you! ^^ And an early Happy Birthday to you!
It's funny how the Hyoutei image goes, and what we all love about it--I swear, I still vaguely remember the days when I despised Hyoutei with a passion. If I recall, that was part of why I started writing the Roommates: because darn it, so many of my friends liked them, and I was going to like them too even if it took me rewriting the story to do it. ^^; Long ago, far away, so my own fangirling still bemuses me sometimes. ^_~
Oooh? What college is that? I didn't know there were still all-girls colleges here... and yum. I had my first cone of ube and queso ice cream in two years today... man, I forgot how good that was. And thank you for reminding me--I'll have mangoes for breakfast. ^_^
Cockroaches? *giggles* There was a point in time when my middle/high school decided that they didn't want their mascot to be the Indians anymore... our principal voted for the Fighting Ipis, but was shot down by the school board. ;_;
Bwaha! A barista? An honest-to-god Starbucks barista? You rock my socks, Becs. *laugh*
...huh. You know, when I was in Honduras? I thought my groupmates were insane for wanting to drink coffee in weather of over a hundred Fahrenheit, but they swore it was the best coffee they'd ever had. If you want, I can send you a baggie of some of the stuff I picked up--I don't know if it's as good as the stuff my 'mates were drinking, and it's preground, I'm afraid, but my mum's declared that she can't drink all the stuff I brought for her. ^^
an honest-to-god starbucks barista! XD I'm bitchy about my coffee and everything.
man, you are crazy for not trying the coffee! though honestly, I'm nt usually a fan of latin american coffees -- they tend to be pretty mild, and I prefer the boldness of african/arabian/asian coffees (barista, yes, me), I am always up for trying a new kind. I don't think I've ever had honduran coffee, so that would be pretty exciting!
*giggles* Oh, I sipped the coffee, and it was good, I guess... but I'm not a coffee drinker (heresy, I know, especially in a med school student) so I don't actually have a point of comparison. Though I suspect the fact that I could drink it without milk and think it tasted good is a sign that it must have been pretty excellent.
Interesting about the flavours! My classmates were saying that it was strong stuff, though I don't know if that was referring to the brewing method or whatever or the coffee itself. *laugh*
Unfortunately, the coffee is preground (as my mum doesn't have a coffee grinder.) I know coffee lovers are strict about that. ^^; Still, it's yours if you want it! I'll poke you for your address as soon as I'm back in the US of A, yes? ^_~
Hallo! Your long ago PoT fic was part of what got me initially hooked on the PoT fandom and ultimately on fic in general (lots of different fandoms, including HnG, Gundam Wing, Viewfinder, House, Supernatural, etc). This later lead to my weird obsession with gay ebooks (because of course it has to be slash or something like that), which is, frankly a bad thing given how truly awful the writing is most of the time.
I don't actually read a ton of fic anymore, though, mostly because it was just becoming too difficult to find finished, well-written fic. So I was really glad to see that you were getting back into writing. Reliable authors are hard to find and then they abandon you. :(
Mostly I'm busy teaching (math) now, but there was a time when I used to scanlate (editing only), so let me know if you need more fonts -- I know where you can get them REAL cheap
*nudge, nudge, wink, wink*
Ahem. So, where was I... at the end, rather. Math is the best!!
(O)_(O) You know, you're definitely the first person to make the claim that anything I did got you into fandom and fic in general... I feel like I should go, I don't know, repent, or something. ^_~
It's always been hard to find finished fic--LJ has its ups and its downs, and that's unfortunately one of the downs. >.< I've always been big on finishing my fic before I post them--I just can't do it, otherwise!-- but I know that that doesn't work for a lot of people. And I don't know how much further back into writing I'm getting, but I do hope that I'll manage to stay at least somewhat reliable--I do so hate to disappoint!
And oooh! I would love to find your font dealer. ^_~ I've picked up quite a few fonts from dafont, but there are some standard ones that I just... really miss, from the old days.

Of course, it's probably not anywhere near where I live, but maybe I could commute... ^.^
