I haven't seen all of the original series (though I've seen a lot of it and read a lot via tumblr, so I basically know what's happening with the bloodbending), but it really did seem absurdly broken. Like, are we just not going to get any explanation as to why it was so uber-powerful? It seemed forced just to provide an awesome threat - and then to have Amon come in and look even scarier by being immune to it.

And agreed about Asami. Just. . . make Makorra happen and quit dragging her through all of that, honestly. I've been hoping that she wouldn't turn heel, but at this point, everyone in the little gang has been dishonest with her and treated her like an outsider. I wouldn't blame her if she did :\

And yeah, Tahno would be cool.

I just can't help but think when I was in the target audience, this much love triangle stuff would have put me right off.

IIRC, it was only used once in the original on one or two people. I might be wrong, but Hama couldn't just make a hundred people bow down to her. Amon being near impervious to bending makes him less cool, I think. It's better when you think he simply doesn't care that someone is trying to set him on fire ( ... )

Someone proposed that he was just immune to bloodbending, like Aang in the avatar state was during the flashback. That would make it easier to buy for me, I think. I don't want some invulnerable Superman. :\

I really think Asami has great potential, but she's just being used for like. . .LOOK LOVE TRIANGLE!! stuff. I thought they'd quit that after the deal with her father, but noooo. Egh.

Maybe. He did have to fight it.

Yeah, her father funded an attack at a huge tournament while she was there. Then he tried to kill her friends and I don't think she has many. And then she had to choose a side. I actually had a draft on Tumblr about how Asami can react and that's fine, but she probably has more important things on her mind than shipping.

It seems like a lot of people put Avatar on a pedestal. It's not bad, but it's not perfect either.

To be fair, Tarrlok did seem to be extremely worn out after he did the bloodbending on everyone. I doubt he'd be able to keep it up for an extended period of time. I'm more worried about why he can blood bend when it isn't the full moon.

I like Bolin, but I'm starting to get annoyed at Mako. He needs to decide if he wants to keep dating Asami or break up with her and ask Korra out. Or, my personal favorite: neither. I liked him a lot better when he was focused on the pro-bending tournament. Now it seems like too much of his character revolves around everyone else. :/

What did Korra do at the end to avoid getting electrocuted, anyway? I didn't quite catch it, and I haven't been able to re-watch it yet.

I'm hoping that Tahno will reappear in season 2 if he doesn't appear in the finale. My biggest hope was that he would somehow manage to find Korra because I ship it, but it turns out that Korra didn't need help rescuing herself.

Power upgrade? I'm not sure what kind of explanation they'll give, but yeah.

I don't dislike Bolin, but I don't like him as much as I did in the beginning. Mako's been really bothering me lately. He doesn't have to be super nice, but he's just...ugh. I agree. He's going the shallow love interest route.

I think she redirected it somehow? I couldn't exactly tell either.

Tahno's so popular, I hope he'll make a cameo or two. I'm not really expecting more than that. Tahno is a more interesting person to ship Korra with than Mako, I think.

I think what she did was grab some kind of hair ribbon/strip of cloth, looped it through the ceiling of the box, and held onto that. Since cloth doesn't conduct electricity, she was alright.

And, random aside: I doubt the show will take it in this direction, but I'd be interested in seeing Korra et al considering, or being forced to resort to, "forbidden" stuff like bloodbending. i.e., "Tarrlok is willing to do all this gross bloodbending stuff to survive; maybe we should do it too, because otherwise we'll lose and we're the ones trying to do good." (Or, just taking the other elements to their extreme-I mean, theoretically, with airbending, you could bend the air out of someone's lungs and leave them dead in minutes flat, right?)

(also, hi, hope you don't mind my dropping in; xirysa says you're a legit bro, so hi :P)

That makes sense.

I was thinking it would be interesting if Aang could just bloodbend back. If anyone, he could be trusted not to abuse it, but I guess it's illegal and even thirty years later it could still be something they just don't talk about. And while I can't see that happening either, it would be fun. (Not in the traditional haha way, but you know.) Korra would definitely go further that Aang, it's just the kid's show problem.

Were there any special airbending abilities? Water had two and I don't think Aang's little spinning game counts.

Hi~ I don't mind at all. More people is better.
