Fun facts for the day - did you know that there are at least 500,000 not-yet-process ballots in California? (And that's with only about 1/5 of the counties reporting in how many unprocessed ballots they have. Notably, one of the counties which hasn't reported in is L.A. Yes, the Congressional race in my district (the 4th) is undecided for this reason.

I think the idea is that the absentee ballots will fall out into the same ratios as the normal ballots or at least not drift too much to make a difference. Theoretically, they could fall more heavily one way or the other, though. It would be nice to see absentee ballots taken more seriously. :)
