So there's been a lot of talk about this series, and I have to admit I'm sorry I didn't pick it up sooner. I've always had a penchant for vampire novels (thank you Anne Rice) and I have yet to find a love story I didn't like.

I was in desperate need of a good historical fiction, and this one really satisfied. My only gripe was that the "time slip" part of the novel wasn't quite as smooth as I would have liked. This is the second offering from SAA, her first being Garden Spells which was thoroughly enthralling and reminiscent of Practical Magic (a 90’s movie starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock). Yikes, it took me over two months to finish this book. I actually picked it up right after finishing Girl with a Pearl Earring. I could blame the demands of finals, work, and my internship, but I have to admit that things didn’t really pick up in the plot until about 2/3 of the way in.
