He growled. "I didn't shout for you because I had things under control. And I didn't want to cause a big scene. Calling for you would have just caused a big battle, and didn't want to find out we'd lose. He's a vampire, not a zombie."

He didn't even know if it was possible for a vampire to turn a human at all, let alone a zombie, but still. What the hell was up with Shito suddenly diving headfirst into all these stupidly dangerous situations? Wasn't Chika supposed to be the rash, impulsive one?

He grabbed the doorknob, shouldering past Chika. "I'm done justifying myself to you," he growled. "I need a shower. Right now."
The least Chika could have been was at least a little sympathetic, but that was far more than Shito should have expected.
