Having just done the roommates thing myself a month ago, I totally feel your pain, although I wish I'd been half as clever as you and saved some of the emails. One guy was a producer from some tabloid tv show and said I could share his upper east side apt, offering me the maid's quarters. It was just weird. Nothing like the Russians, though. You might also try posting on aprilslist.com and freewilliamsburg.com for better luck. But in the meantime, thank you for extolling the virtues of craiglist with those hilarious replies.
