[there's some white noise as Laurie attempts to make this private to the deities, but as usual, futuristic tech and the eighties mentality don't exactly work. So in other words...she gives up.]

Growth is realizing that, in life, things don't always go your way. You can't just expect certain things to happen, you can't just plan and believe ( Read more... )

Knowing the City, they'll have them as some sort of precipitation.

I sure as hell hope not. That's the last thing I'd want to see.

Seeing it would probably be pretty cool, provided they don't hurt anybody.

Raining fireworks? I'm...not too sure. Fireworks are supposed to be shot up, not fall down.

If they come down, then it's like a bomb. A bright, colorful, bomb.

I'm not exactly the best at making speeches like that, but thanks.

It was heartfelt, was it not? I should think that would be sufficient.

Hopefully sufficient enough for a token.

We can have our own fireworks.

[Wind or something, Dan is out and about.]

I can show you a few things about the network.

[He at least knows how to make stuff private.]

Literally or figuratively? Because I'm good for either...or both.

[She really only knows how to make stuff private to Dan, and even then, it sucks.]

Like how to private certain things to the higher ups in this place? I wouldn't mind, nobody gave me any pointers with how to work this thing when I first got here.

Good. So am I.

[Does she have any idea just how schoolboy he feels when she says stuff like that? ...What were they talking about? Oh, there we go. The network.]

It's more complicated than an IMB or an Apple. As you can tell from the screens too, they're something else. I still have trouble myself now and then.

[She probably has some idea. And if she does, she finds it endearing.]

I know it makes the computers back at home look like clunky pieces of shit, that's for sure. [Of course, Jon made stuff like that too, but she's learning not to mention him as often.]

Well if you sometimes have trouble with it, then I guess I'm just doomed. I always seem to press the wrong buttons.

Last year they just flooded the place with assholes.

Everyone and their mom showed up.

[she's not going to look too far into that statement]

So what, do these people stay, or is it another temporary curse?

Fireworks could be fun. I haven't done that whole thing in years and years.

Well it is going to be the fourth. I know not everyone here is American or from Earth, but maybe we should set up some fireworks anyway.

I am from both Earth and America so I'm all for the idea.

That's great. If this place doesn't do anything, maybe we could get a group together and set some off.

I'm sorry, have we spoken before?
