It really does, doesn't it? :) And yet, we had never heard of it until less than a fortnight ago. Needless to say, it's been a very pleasant discovery!
As soon as we can. Alas, I think Mirthness and I are busy up through the trip to Vancouver, followed be subsequent business trips to Ottawa and Chicago, respectively. But after that, we'll NEED to play this. And Axis and Allies. And Descent...
This sounds a little like House on Haunted Hill, a great Avalon Hill game which works, despite the 50 page errata sheet that came out for it. It's kind of hard to find though, and comes with a million pieces.
I've seen ads for that ('Betrayal at House on the Hill', right?). It looks interesting, and if it's anything like Arkham Horror, I'll certainly need to give it a shot. Just not right now, though. I'm going to go broke if I go to another hobby store anytime soon. :)
Yeah, Betrayal rather, that's it. It's fun..in that you start the first third of the game, everyones wandering around, and laying down "mansion pieces", so that the house is randomly generated every time you play. And it's not until a certain threshold is past that one of the players suddenly becomes "the bad guy", and the circumstances for who wins how is layed down. It's pretty damn cool, especially when you didn't realize that, Oh, right, I've ALWAYS been insane, and now you kids are in my trap, and me and my all-powerful zombie grandad are going to kill you. Yay
I know how you mean about expensive hobbies though!
