Well things seem to be going well. Last MRI of the brain was good and I should be up for my next PET scan in about 3 weeks. I get my last dose of this current round of chemo next Wednesday then it is a watch and wait for anything new growing. Home again after another brain surgery. I had 2 tumors removed, one in the right side and the other on the front of my left side. Apparently the surgery took 7 hours, a long time under anesthesia but the doc feels confident that things worked well ( Read more... )

Well finally good news for this year. The new meds I am taking seem to be doing their job for the time being. My recent pet scan results say that there are no current malignancies. The meds are designed to suppress new tumor growth so I am in the clear for the time being. The science journals indicate this combination of meds typically works for ( Read more... )

I forgot I haven't posted on here in a while. About 4 days after my last post on January 23rd I was hospitalized with sepsis as a result of a perforated bowel. The day I was hospitalized it became obvious my chemo meds have stopped working and they found 4 tumors the size of golf balls in my bowel. I would like to say 2013 was a banner year. I would like to discuss all of the outstanding, fun things my family and I did this year. But I won't. My most recent pet scan and follow up MRI has indicated nothing really new. One 3mm tumor in my brain and no new tumor detected elsewhere, although 3 spots in my spine and one in my brain were possible tumor growth but we're inconclusive due to either being too small or not enhancing enough on the scan. I haven't posted on here in a while, mainly because I haven't been at the computer other than work much lately. Still taking my oral chemo meds, back up to full dose. The nausea and fatigue are pretty bad but thankfully the joint pain has subsided for the most part so I can get through a day ( Read more... )

The surgery was successful, as far as I am told. No loss of brain function I am aware of and about 40 stitches on the side of my head but otherwise all quiet on the western front for now. This Thursday I am on for gamma knife radiation treatment for the hole where the tumor was as well as 2 other very small spots. Hopefully this is a step towards ( Read more... )
