Tigriss has an opinion on something?

There's something that's irked me just a tad about the Edoropolis Emporium, and I'd like to make a polite objection. I was told that it might be disruptive to actually post this on that forum, but I would still like to toss in my two yen on the subject, so this is a compromise.

(Puutaro-kun here! ^_^) I totally agree with you Tigriss! It's like, even if the show itself has a few gay references we are still not allowed have a discussion around it. I don't blame the mods though. Discussions about same-sex couplings easily lead to flame wars, as some close-minded person will enter it and go "OMFG DAT IZ SO WRONG UR ALL SICK!!11!1!1!!!eleven!!!" and then the personal attacks will begin. (Heck, even discussions about straight couplings often lead to flame wars)

The problem here is that there are still too many people who just can't be acceptive of thoughts and opinions that differ from theirs. Still, those who just want to discuss and share their views with others shouldn't be punished by having to feel that they can't say what they think cause it might offend people.

Thanks, Puutaro-kun. I'm not really mad at the mods either, just annoyed about what happened. I understand topics like that could be flamebait, but I think it would be nice if someone could say they like Character X paired with Character Z without getting the topic locked or whatever. But I guess you can't please everyone.

Hi, Tigriss, it's Matsumoto Sensei. I'm new in the SPC/KNT fandom, you know, and I'm still trying to figure out how the most actives fans behaves. Therefore I'm trying to not hurt someone susceptibilities in the board. But I agree with you, sometimes moderations could be done more calmly and discretely. No one like to feel being exposed, punished or something like, this can lead to fans leaving apart the board without necessity ( ... )

not exactly an agreement, but... anonymous January 5 2006, 08:05:24 UTC
there are things i happen to feel strongly about. but, i never bring those things up because i don't want to start any meaningless flame wars or arguments. and, i don't talk about that with people on PMs or IMs because i'm always afraid it would ruin our friendship. even though i have strong feelings about certain issues that i dare not mention, i am not the confrontational type.

Well well well, what's all this then. Seems that day is still hanging around, but I still stand by my Moderator Decision.

This is kinda outdated, but still a relevant part of Disucssion I suppose. The ground rules were layed out and I'm in charge of making sure they are upheld. I didn't write the rules, I just uphold 'em. Sometimes the job of a Moderator is to do something against one's will, making me look like the badguy all time, fine, I can handle that, but rules are rules.

That's all I gotta say on this for the moment, I need sleep.

Matsumoto Sensei here. OK, Burkey, I'm not opposing to your role as moderator, I even consider moderation the most important feature of the board. I'm not contesting the rules too, I accepted them before signing in. Nevertheless, one must judge if the rules were broken or not, and one must judge what action will be the most suitable to the case. I cannot say that I agree with all the instances where the moderation has done, nor with the action taken.
In my point of view, most of the EE members are well behaved, and sometimes the moderation was not necessary, or could be done more discretely. I respect your opinion, after all this is matter of judgment that depends on the each one's mind, but I'm inclined to be less rigorous than you.

you know, somehow i saw this comiing, this is happening a lot,it was almost worse at a(thankfully)dowend SPC site that locked a forum thread even buy mentioning that the big cheese gose shopping at tiffanys(or,more siply, cross dress's),i thought all this elusive c**p had ended(seeing as there are haredly no spc sites left on the net,and the ones that are dont update anymore),clearly not.
but yeah,i titaly agree with you,in fact, one of my more recent posts on a forum thread about a cancelld one on the same website,i remember commenting.....

"ooooo, somebody said the word gay, quick, call 999 and hope that the police will arest him"

its utterly pathetic, there are many other acctualy bad rumours and subjects goin around the tarnished SPC section of the web,and they have to pick the least importent one.

Uhh, wow, if you're gonna make an argument, at LEAST do some editting and revision before hitting the ol' "Post Comment" button.

If English is your not first language, then that's fine, but if it is, my God man, try to at least form proper sentences so people will actually take your point literally and not laugh at it.

*shrug* i don't mind what gets thrown on the edo board... i don't really oppose anything even if i'm not into it. that's the freedom of internet speech, and i'd like to think i'm mature enough to be accepting of other people's ideas. however, not everyone is like that, and you all know that there will always be those people who will do nothing but cause trouble and stir controversy, and no one wants all that negativity on the board. i'm sure it was a difficult decision designed to protect the integrity and positive outlook of the board

it's a shame the situation couldn't be solved simply by adding an 18+ forum section. that way it'd keep younger, susceptible audiences out while allowing for people to respectfully discuss more mature topics without fear of prejudism or being an outcast.

Nihonbare board aster_crow October 23 2006, 01:03:50 UTC
Hi, Matsumoto Sensei again. I think this isn't a problem anymore, since we have Nihonbare board. It isn't as active as EE board, but at least one can find more freedom of speaking there. Contact Violet, if you are interested in.

It seems that the problem has already been solved, so there's no use in me dwelling on it. Actually, I haven't thought about it for a while now, so I'm glad everything has been resolved without a big blowup or flame-war. Thanks for passing the info along.

I'm sure I've known about Nihonbare before anyone else who has posted in this LJ. -_-

I was merely reflecting upon the comment about the situation on the EDO board. Was not trying to stir anything up.
