Divine science

Does the existence of God disprove science? I kinda doubt it. It seems to me that science is the universes 'How and Why' department while the almighty God of your choice would be the 'management' division. I find it a bit silly both when people say that "God didn't make a miracle, it is all scientifically explainable" and also "It was an act of ( Read more... )

If we posit that:

God made everything.

Then

God made all the rules which govern everything.

Science therefore becomes the effort to discover and know these rules.

And thereby to know aspects of God and his creation.

Refusal to consider the discoveries of and about the creations of God

Does then in fact, become denial of the Godhood of God.

And therefore in its own right elevates human dogma over divine truth.

So what then is more heretical ?

Denying what has been learned to indeed be a truth about God ?

Or placing man made unfounded beliefs, before and above God's own truths ?

Which is more arrogant ?

Hmmm. Good question. Using a pragmatic view might be that if you are religious, you could serve him better by understanding him better and if you are not religious then advancing human science gives us more ability to protect ourselves from the unknown.

On the other hand traditionally God does not like us learning how his tools. And also we have already proved that we can advance technology far enough to whipe ourselves out either by accident or by purpose.

So I guess whether or not you are religious, deciding whether or not you accept science probably depends on how good you are at it.

I'd say, depends how you define science. Most people define it as 'weird stuff those guys in labcoats do with their time.'

Most people are wrong. At least ... partly :-D
