I just reread "Dune".  It's a good book.  I like the concept.  I knew they put out a couple more so I figured I'd check them out too ( Read more... )

The Pre Dune books have been written or are planned for writing by his son and a co-writer, based on Frank Herbert's notes. I think the last two after may also be based upon such notes. All these might have happened sooner if Frank had not had such a penchant for having safe deposit boxes scattered across the landscape. It took the family years to find the one with Frank's notes and outlines in it.

Ahh, That explains alot. I didn't think to check the authors. But in any case I found that several of the books are actually on audio tape or disk at the library. And luckily I have a boring job where the bosses don't mind people listening to radios and such.

There's an idea! I wonder how many books one can fit onto a iPod...?

Dune is a must read. Dune Messiah I didn't care for (everything goes to hell for everyone in that book), but after of that is Children of Dune, which is my second favorite in the series. The three after that (God Emperor, Heretics, Chapterhouse) are progressivly weirder.

As for the earlier ones, (Actually published later) i've only heard bits and pieces of some of the 'house' ones on booktape, but i enjoyed what I've heard.
