i'm curious. is there a song that gets you every time? that will always lump your throat or tear your eyes? i don't think i can not cry ever at "bird on a wire." what's yours?
There's a series of songs that I can't listen to unless I want to end up in hysterics, but I think the one that really gets me started is Lullaby (Goodnight My Angel), I think. The whole series is really quite good though, and when we get together next for your birthday (super soon, okay?) I'll make you listen, and we'll cry together over lost love. Yeah. Sounds like a happy birthday treat to me. But they really do just tear me up inside. As always, I do it to myself.
i cry an ocean at "(see you at) tha crossroads" by bone thugs n harmony
seriously, as a non-crier, i just have to ask - are we just being metaphorical here? there are songs that make me sad, but i can't imagine actually weeping when "waltz #2" or "this must be the place" comes on.
as far as songs that are actually sad: jeff buckley "hallelujah" mountain goats "mess inside" & "source decay" broken social scene "anthems for a seventeen year old girl" sufjan stevens "casimir pulaski day" cat stevens "father and son" clinic "distortions" notwist "consequence"
i can't speak for everyone, but i know i really do cry at "bird on a wire." only when i'm really listening, though - if i'm not paying it any attention or it's on when i walk into a room, it's not like it's a "press this button to make theresa cry" thing. i never thought of "father and son" as sad. huh.
