Writer's Block: In the Event of a Zombie Emergency

Jul 29, 2008 17:36

It seems as if zombies are in the air lately. I am not prepared for an outbreak, not supply wise at any rate. But I think I am mentally ready. I think I would recognize the early warning signs (if an event like "World War Z" happens) in time to warn friends and set up base camp. The Costco in clifton has gas pumps which would be good for ( Read more... )

The problem is going to be communication. lastwordy_mcgee July 30 2008, 13:27:50 UTC
I'll try to stick things out in my own place first, having already determined how fortifications can be accomplished. And you are welcome there, of course. But what if we all have to bust out for the snow line? How will we communicate? Can we come up with a meeting point?

These are things that must be figured out, after all.

I was thinking the same thing about a zombie icon!

We'll just have to work the cell phones for as long as we can. It all depends how the outbreak happens. If it's quick, I'd say we'd still have a day or so before things got bad with power. If it's a slow spread, as long as we stay ahead of the curve, we'll be fine. Well, not fine; but better.

Might want to add long-range walkie-talkies to the supply list, just in case. As you said, as soon as signs start appearing (a'la WWZ), we can start buying. CB radios and short-wave is probably also a good idea.

I just don't think we can count on cell networks lasting very long, especially since electricity is going to be a problem.

Hey, I don't suppose you're off tomorrow, are you?

Nah, I have to work til 5. Then I have my ultrasound at 5:30. Bleh.
I totally forgot about walkies. They would be very good to have. And those pure water tablets or ultraviolet water sanitizer lights.

I love that you have this planned out. I would be the dingbat standing at the window saying, "There's a girl in the garden."
