Oh! I am allergic to citrus too! But for me it's more of a hives and skin on the roof of my mouth cracking open thing rather than a stomach thing. Oranges are by far the worst for me, though I can put lime slices in drinks without too much ill effect.
Oranges are the worst for me too, and I have a similar reaction to them -- hives on the roof of my mouth, swollen tongue, etc., but no skin rash or anything. Do you have a problem with tomatoes, too? They do the same thing to me...
Tomatoes used to, when I was younger--I still have trouble with them making the edges of my mouth crack. Raw tomatoes are easier to deal with than cooked ones.
When I first started dating Hector, he tried really hard to convince me that he once had scurvy. For the longest time I didn't believe it, but then I figured, "Well, Mexico is a third-world country..." so I finally bought it. He then relentlessly mocked me for my idiocy.
Conclusion: Hector is an ass. Not really sure what this has to do with limes, but I'm just sayin' ...
Ohhh that is weird... I read or heard something once about how something extracted from pineapple is used as a meat tenderizer, and if you eat too much fresh pineapple it can sort of have the same effect in your mouth (um... ew) -- okay, thanks to Google, I've just found out that pineapple has an enzyme called bromelain, which is the tenderizer thingy. I wonder if his allergy has something to do with that? How does he react to it?
I'm not sure how he reacts to it. But I'm a pineapple freak, and I know that if I eat too much of it, my tongue gets a little sore. I always thought it was the acidity, not tenderizing enzyme! :O

I am currently not allergic to anything, and think I am terribly lucky.
