Summer produce at the market

I often feel that Australasia is such a perfect description for urban Australia. Once in the country, Australia become like the Australia people preceive from a far, native trees, bush people, farms, beautiful country towns. Sydney, in many parts, feels like South South East Asia. Yesterday I went to the markets solo, as Jerad had to work. I took ( Read more... )

what a treat! jenyuie January 21 2007, 07:14:21 UTC
Thanks for the lovely virtual tour of the markets, Kell! Very exciting for me. I could almost smell or taste the produce in the photos. You will like those chinese chives. The name in Chinese translates into something like wine greens. They have a terrific flavor and are fantastic in dumplings with pork/shrimp meat. I guess you'd say it was almost a garlicky flavor? Mmmmmm. I will ask my mom for a recipe or two and we can try it in Sydney when I visit!

I too want to like papaya (I think I like some varieties) but certain kinds have elicited strange associations and you nailed it on the head - vomit. *sigh* I wish I were a lover of all fruit, but there are a few that I'm not crazy about.

Guest room looks fab!! How hot is Sydney in mid March?

According to Sydney's website, you can expect temperatures ranging between 63 and 74. It'll be mild, I believe, but your mantra for dressing should be to layer your outift because Sydney weather can be volitile. I think a lot of rain is also possible in March.

It was 100 today - I had excellent intentions of going to the library to pick up a book, but decided not to step outside at all. The heat was fierce to the extent that passing by an open window I could feel a blast of hot air coming in. I closed all the blinds, opened all the windows and just focussed on my study.

Can't wait to try those chives under your instruction!
