Just Heat 'n' Serve!

Obviously, I have nothing against freshly prepard food, made from scratch with quality ingredients. More accurately, it's pretty much an obsession. I also like fine dining and am an appalling snob for chi-chi gastronomic indulgences like truffles, sashimi, soft rind cheeses from France, and oysters. I'm not telling you anything you don't already ( Read more... )

I love that Canned Braised Steak and Onions entry! You have always stood out above the rest, my dear :) I used to love KFC coleslaw like nobody's business, but ever since I had a vinegar based coleslaw in a Jewish deli in NYC, I have been obsessed with that version ever since.

Okay, here's my list of bad food I love. I would have included canned tomato soup, except I found that Imagine brand organic tomato soup is really wonderful compared to the canned version.

low-end:
Kraft mac and cheese
Campbell's vegetarian vegetable soup (sometimes eaten cold, straight out of the can)
those cheap little beef pot pies
jalapeno-nacho cheese dip
chili-cheese fries
ramen
pepperoni
potato chips

higher-end:
canned smoked oysters with Tabasco sauce
spanish green olives out of the jar (stuffed with garlic)
marinated mushrooms

Beef Pot Pies! Yay!

There are these frozen jam donuts you can buy here which I like too. You nuke 'em, then eat them as quickly as your tolerance for jam burns to the tongue will allow, because on cooling the donuts become hard like meteorites.

I forgot to say - when I was in High School I would make ramen by mixing the MSG/salt sachet directly into the dry, drained noodles, such was my shameful addiction to salt.

*shudder*

The canned Braised Steak & Onions is the best of those Tom Piper or Kraft canned foods, better than canned steak & veg or the Irish stew.

Here are my fav Kell -

Chicken Yiros, I'll stop and get one for lunch when I'm working in the afternoon.

Continental Rises of the World. - It's a good filler I want something hot & tasty & for the same reason you like Rise-o-Riso, just boil water & add. Sometimes I do the recipes on the back for a quick family meal.

Continental Cup-a-Soup - Singapore noodles & the curry Asian ones I like the best.

Weetbix with butter & vegemite. A weetbix spread with butter & vegemite. The crunch of the weetbix & creamy butter with the vegemite salty tang.

Hungry Jacks grilled chicken baguet - This is what I have when the kids have their way eating out.

A big latte coffee from On The Run - I stopped there one morning after leaving home in a rush without breakfast & my god I was shocked, it's good coffee.

Do Rices of the World make a red Spanish rice? You could make a pretty good, quick burrito if they do.

A long time ago I went around to a freind's place in Seattle, when he told me that he makes the BEST BURRITOS OF FAME AND REPUTE. Turns out these burritos were all packet-borne, excpet the cheese. Such a funny, bachelor thing to be proud of - packet rice, canned beans, vac-sealed tortillas and cheese. Heat, combine, serve and wait for the praise!

I haven't seen a Spanish Rices of The World Kell, there's Satay, Indian,
Chinese, Oriental & Creole. Your Seattle experience is like that canned soup ad on tv a while back - wife invites in-laws for dinner & they're praising the soup thinking it's home made by their daughter in-law. heh! I can't remember for sure but I think it was a Campbells soup ad.
