Just to update people on the jobs situation, as mine was supposed to change as of my first day back at work (i.e. today). I've now been promoted to deputy funding editor, with a pretty decent pay increase. So hurrah for me. Also, the pay is welcome as I need to feed my growing CD habit ( Read more... )

Fi said that she heard a rumour that tonight's quiz wasn't going to happen. As far as I know, it is. I have written one and I shall be turning up to present it - noone's told me any different so I can only assume someone's spreading mischievous falsehoods. Hope to see people there (apart from the Neil, who's excused to go and see boys).

Finally, I have made it to my holidays. I have three weeks off now, in which time I plan to do as little as possible. Apart from writing a quiz for next Wednesday, that is. I have to wonder what's wrong with the world when people seem so desperate to blow a random collection of other people up. What's it going to achieve? Why can't we all make some attempt to get along?

I think I have recovered from Thursday's events, thankfully. And everyone I know seems to be accounted for, for which I'm very greatful, although in the grand scheme of things there were a lot of people who weren't so lucky, and they were all somebody's friends or relations, so it's hard to be too pleased ( Read more... )

Just to let anyone who might not have heard from me that I'm fine, if a little disturbed by today's events. I'm very glad of the fact that I walk to work. Everyone I've seen today seems alittle shell-shocked by it all - work was certainly very quiet.
