So Tim and I went out on the lake again this weekend with Robert at Lake Travis Scuba, same thing we did last weekend when I had my terrible dive.  I was feeling very confident, though, that with the vitamins and calcium and bananas and Gatorade that I wouldn't have any similar problems.  It was a full boat, the other divers were great, beautiful ( Read more... )

I dont think I could ever scuba dive. I am too terrified of drowning. Its a fear I don't think I will ever conquor. That and the fact that I am so totally naturally buoyant, I can't sink. I'd need hardcore weights.

You are very blessed indeed! I could never do it heh.

The naturally buoyant thing you can overcome fairly easily...but you really have to be fairly comfortable in the water to dive. If you're already scared to start with, you're much more likely to panic and do something to make the situation even worse. Luckily, in all the situations Tim and I have been in, we've both managed to keep pretty level-headed.

You could always try snorkeling ;)

Oh my gosh.

I am so glad things ended well. Don't think about what could of happened, just be glad it happened the way it did.

*phew*

I think I'm going to take your advice and stop thinking about it. We thought and talked about it long enough to learn the lessons we could from it, but if I keep dwelling on it I'm going to have a hard time getting back in the water myself, much less being ok with him getting back in the water!

We're doing peak performance buoyancy at Aquarena Springs on Sunday, so it'll be a nice, easy return to the water (with good visibility and one of the best instructors in the area!). Hey, wanna join in?

That's the way to approach it! Get back on that horse. ;0)

Oh, I wish I could go but I don't have a long suit. I ordered my drysuit and it should be coming in next weekend.

Be sure to report back how it goes. I'm crossing my fingers that you two will have a good dive. =)

Thanks :) In the long run finding the stuff was the icing on the cake, but it was pretty thick icing *lol*

I'm glad it worked out okay. It's times like these I remember to pay more attention to life, and not to be so wrapped up in a bunch of stuff that isn't that important.

If you only knew how topical that is right now...and you're TOTALLY right. The whole experience gave me a lot of perspective, and helped me let go of totally unimportant things that have been bogging me down lately.
