Met with the oncologist today after I apparently made an impression with the surgeon on the phone yesterday. The surgeon pulled some strings and got us in at the last minute because I explained how the bad news yesterday upset Elissa so much (not to mention her family and I). The pathology came back today and it's not good. Elissa has bilateral invasive breast cancer, which means the lumps in both breasts broke through the cell wall and have entered into the breast tissue. She's going to have further surgery to remove more cancerous tissue and to test her lymph nodes. No word yet on when that will be taking place. No ( Read more... )
