I'm still acclimating to my new status (Being Engaged) but it's nice so far. Will be meeting a bunch of little K's classmates (and presumably some of their parents) this coming weekend in Abq, so we'll see how that goes.

And just so you know, you would of course be welcome at the November party too -- I'm just worried that I won't be able to find hosting for people who are coming in out of town; my place is full up, and it's a horrible weekend to be travelling (USA Thanksgiving).

Just wanted to be sure you didn't feel that I was inviting others and not you -- the people getting explicit call-outs for the November get-together are local San Diego people. I explain it a bit better in my long writeup, but my hope is that the Southern California folks will be able to make the party this November, and then (if they want) they can join in the bigger but much further-away party in a year or two...

We'd certainly love to see you that weekend, or any other weekend for that matter! Aren't you getting the itch for a Las Vegas trip? :)

Aw but wouldn't that be the perfect excuse and opportunity to get to meet you two at last indeed! Unfortunately my soul is completely owned from September through December by my job - I'm lucky they even let me go home at night to sleep. You'll just have to have a wonderful time without me and we'll just have to have an impomptu wonderful time to re-celebrate when I do finally get to meet cha.

I'm still getting used to it, even if I'm the one that started this particular change in our relationship. (Add the normal getting-married jitters to a psyche that's spent the last 20 years getting up in the morning, looking in the mirror, and thinking: "yup, still fat dumb and ugly." ... quite a bit of adjustment is in order.)

But she claimed I'd need a crowbar to get rid of her; I thought a proposition might be gentler, but noooooo. Oh well, I guess I'm in for a fate worse than ... ooh, SHINY!
