Please Help Me Make Sense of The Wedding of River Song (finally finished S6 of DW)

Apr 25, 2013 10:47

I FINALLY finished S6 of Doctor Who last night! Whew. It only took me about 6 months. Now if I could just make sense of what I watched...Anyone care to explain it to me? Because my brain is in a bit of a fog about the finale, The Wedding of River Song. It didn't help that netflix was being a bitch and re-starting every five minutes (probably ( Read more... )

My answer to most of your questions is "Yes, those are good questions", lol.

I don't know. I kind of like the episode for the pageantry of it, but it really doesn't make sense. "Always and completely forgiven" is a beautiful line, but the whole thing doesn't hang together.

The best I can do about why they get married is that he has to figure out a way to get her to let him touch her so they'll short-circuit the alternate timeline. But if he's really the tesselecta, he's not really touching her, is he? That just creates more questions.

I do ship Eleven and River, so I liked seeing them kiss, but this whole season made me go MOOOOOOFFFFFFAAAAAATTTTTTT!

Yeah, I thought of that (about him using it to touch her) but that is really really manipulative of him. I guess that extremely quick whisper pretty much told her his plan too ( ... )

I'm going to have to go find the responses you got on Tumblr and see if any of them help. (I usually go to Tumblr when I don't have time for sustained reading, so if I see long posts, I skip over them. And I hate the way you don't have a back-and-forth conversation all in one place on Tumblr unless you reblog the whole thing each time.)

Yeah, my big challenge with tumblr is keeping my replies short enough that they fit the word limit of text responses. I don't really do the reblogging text thing because people don't always see that.
I got a few replies but nothing substantial.

I feel sort of bad for thinking this, but I'm glad that I wasn't the only one left reeling from S6. I just finished watching it myself and am still really confused about some of the stuff that went on. Normally I'd just re-watch the season, but I was too eager to find out who Clara was so I just skipped on ahead. I'll probably get back to it again sometime ( ... )

Oh, there were tons of people left reeling after S6 (though there are lots that absolutely loved it too). One of the reasons I waited so long to finish it was because I already knew how everything had turned out (mostly from fanfics and gutter chat). I'm completely rubbish at avoiding spoilers. I thought that maybe since I already knew the basic major plotline, I wouldn't be so confused. Clearly, I was wrong. But yeah, it is totally making me feel thick ( ... )

FWIW, you can skip the first half of S7 and watch what's come out so far of the second half and you won't be missing anything. At least so far, nothing relates back to the first half of the season, and all you really need to know is that Amy and Rory are gone.

I just can't! I'm way too OCD about watching stuff in order. I even re-watch in order most of the time.
Plus, I'm gonna be sad to see the Ponds go - I don't want to miss it (even though everyone keeps telling me that there is pretty much nothing good about S7a)
