Today was a good day at work. Busy, but not insanely so, and the only person there who doesn't like me wasn't working today. This girl doesn't like me because her ex-boyfriend also works there. Said ex-boyfriend, while hands-down the best-looking person I have ever seen in my life, is 19 and never going to college. He wasn't a big fan of school. ( Read more... )

Here's two more books for you.

"Without Reservation" and "Educating Alice" both by Alice Steinbach.

I have been reading lots of books this summer too. Otherwise I am doing an internship at one mixed-up pr firm and working on my thesis proposal. And Milwaukee has tons of fun things to do in the summer. There are festivals almost every weekend. Last weekend was Italian Fest, complete with great food, replica statues and fountains, dancers, and lots of singers imitating Frank Sinatra.

Glad to hear your internship is going well. Enjoy the remainder of your summer.

Okay, I've read the synopses of those two books, and I'm already jealous of that woman! I will have to read the books. I really need to leave the country again. I'm saving up my money to go to Germany for the World Cup next summer (not that I'll get to go to a game, but I would like to be in the country).

One of the most entertaining books I've read this (or any) summer: "On Bullshit," by Harry G. Frankfurt. Good stuff!

What are you doing for your thesis? You graduate from Marquette next spring, right? Italian Fest sounds like it was fun! I've enjoyed spending more time in Seattle this summer (and have also discovered the BEST sandwich place). I like cities far more than I used to. Is Packer fever heating up (no pun intended) over there? People here seem to be gearing up for the Seachickens once again. We got Shaun Alexander back for a year, so we'll see how that works out. Hope your internship is fun, too! I skimmed your journal and it sounds sort of stressful. Maybe you should ask your mom to send you some cookies!

Oddly enough, the internship is not that stressful. Maybe it's because I know it's temporary and I'm only there two days a week. And I'm still learning from it, mostly on what not to do. And since they are so poorly managed it has meant I have some great experience from the place because I am doing things a normal agency wouldn't let an intern do. I realize I have more experience than most interns, but still, I've gained some real hands on experience. And the whole intention was to just update my profession clips so I have done that much ( ... )

Okay, that makes sense. I guess then you are learning what not to do, as well as getting what you need out of it. That's great!

Any plans post-Marquette, or is that too far away? My grandparents' priest came to visit pretty often when my grandpa was sick. It helped my grandma quite a bit. Are you reading all those articles on the powers of prayer and positive thinking? I always find those interesting.

Ooh, that should be interesting! I hope we bring our A game (and I hope we bring a good record into the game, too).

Really, this summer has gone by INCREDIBLY fast. And I didn't even leave the country! I can't believe tomorrow is August already ... that's just crazy. How is Milwaukee summer weather? It's been absolutely gorgeous here for weeks.
