Luckily, the sun hasn't quite set yet, so she's hoping she can slip into the hotel and up to a shower before Angel gets up for the night. Even that small amount was probably enough for him to smell if she got close enough.
Tired and a little cranky, she isn't completely thrilled to see that Darla and Kara are in the lobby when she walks in. So much for avoiding everyone. But then she takes a closer look at Darla and stops short.
"What happened to you?"
Not the politest of greetings, but she's had a rough day. Besides, she and Darla were never much for pleasantries, anyway.

"Gun shot through the shoulder, and no, we didn't get this one yet, either."

Probably about the same as her chances of getting Angel to give her a raise.
"Did you see who it was?"
It was the only way she could think to ask if the shooter was invisible without sounding insane.

She winces. The whole thing still hurts like a bitch, drugs or not. She just wants to kill someone and go to bed. Preferably both.

"Well, if she doesn't, I'm forced to wonder about false advertisment on your part," she says quick as a flash, and then gets serious.
"Cordelia just told me you got shot, Lindsey. Which I found highly interesting, because I did as well. Today."
She makes a pause to give him time to take that in. Since she needs to know whether he's alone or whether his company was listening in, she ends with: "Did they already escort you to the airport? Because I'd really like to see you to discuss... coincidences and the like."

But before he's even able to acknowledge that, Darla continues about the gunshot. He sits on the edge of his desk as he filters through memories from years ago...
Airport? Darla wanted to see him... but fuck he needed to be back in Boston in the morning and if he left the office to go there and not home, they would know and it could only get worse.
Which meant he had to lie and tell Darla he was at the airport... the one person he couldn't lie to.
Well... technically it wasn't a lie. The office was like the airport...
"I don't really have that option at the moment, Darla."

"I understand," she says, keeping her voice even, and decides to play the hint and double talk game. "It's probably nothing anyway. Given all the gang warfare the police was rattling on about. That might also explain the guy trying to drown me last week in a swimming pool."
Since Cordelia told her about Lindsey's sore throat last week, that should alert him to why they needed to talk without listeners.
