I made a new discovery today. Apparently, in Illinois, possibly in the entire midwest, they use different definitions for a haircut. I went in to a place and gave them the exact same instructions as I give to every barber in CA, but tacked on a warning that "I don't want it very short. I think it must be an Illinois thing. Here is Wisconsin (well, MADISON), I say "Short, please," and they barely cut anything off. If I want a short haircut, I have to say "short... really." followed 10 minutes later by, "could you take a little MORE off?"

No, just masters, but I'll be applying to many schools (including Wisconsin) next fall to continue through the PhD
