quidditch --- Changes at Hogwarts:
Since Hogwarts' rebuilding required a major collective effort, it was several months before it was restored to a condition suitable for students to begin attending. The following year began a month late and minor construction continued for several additional months. In conjunction with Kingsley Shacklebolt, Minerva McGonagall sought to make the best of the situation and use her new position as Headmistress to make minor alterations to the historic layout of the school. Several additional rooms designated for recreational purposes -- clubs, inter-house game tournaments and similar activities -- were added. The Room of Requirement was newly concealed within the walls and long-since forgotten. New teachers were hired and Muggle Studies was made compulsory for all students to foster open-mindedness between students with different magical backgrounds.
McGonagall worked over the following years to establish a sense of unity between the Houses and cohesion in their studies. The state of peace in the Wizarding world extended to the school which had their students' best interests at heart. Certain measures had to be taken to keep such a peace intact. Students were supervised far more closely than they had been previously and all rules were even more strictly enforced. Prefects and Heads had to sit through long meetings and undergo several brief training sessions to ensure that they would be well equipped to do their jobs.
Though the school was rebuilt complete with the necessary structural improvements, the deep ancient magic within its walls could not be altered and reacted negatively to the violence and destruction that had taken place on the school grounds. Some effects have lessened over the years, such as the school's tendency to lock doors of its own accord and sweep entire wings with gusts of wind leaving a dark gloom in the absence of candle or torchlight. The stairs are perhaps the most temperamental aspect of the school (save perhaps the ghostly newcomers), disappearing and reappearing at will without any apparent pattern in addition to their usual shifts in direction. This can be extremely inconvenient for students who are rushing to class and it is recommended that they allot themselves an adjusted amount of time to get wherever they need to go, particularly on Tuesdays and Fridays when the stairs are the most sporadic and uncooperative.
--- Detentions and 'house points':
Detentions will be distributed accordingly at the discretion of the professors. The punishment will be proportionate to the infraction - generally tedious and unwanted menial tasks such as polishing the trophy room, writing lines or tiresome and unpleasant chores. The points system has stayed the same: Professors, Heads and Prefects may detract points from students for various infractions under their discretion. However, Prefects cannot deduct points from other Prefects, nor can they award points.

--- Quidditch:
After the war, Quidditch was suspended for a brief time. However, its reinstatement was a top priority of the Ministry as they believed that it would lighten the postwar mood significantly. It took some time and rebuilding, but once the resources were available, Quidditch began again with a grand re-opening with fireworks, Quidditch classics and a massive effort to raise money for the teams to recompile their rosters.
Now, Quidditch is more popular than ever among the students at Hogwarts and the Wizarding World at large. In relation to the House Cup, its function has not changed: Houses are awarded points based on their achievements in matches. All students of the appropriate age are encouraged to participate in tryouts for their
House Quidditch teams and to support their teammates at matches. There has been an emphasis on fun and morale-boosting in an attempt to deemphasise the competitive aspects which frequently lead to conflict between Houses and Quidditch fans who support rival teams.
