Saturday night was You Are Cordially Invited..., a LARP game written by Paul and Jenni about the wedding reception of two superheroes. I was playing the lucky groom Jack Reynolds aka Thunderbird (a Superman analog) who had just married the lovely Kelly Cassidy aka Ultima. While Kelly lives openly as Ultima, Jack keeps his heroic identity a secret ( Read more... )

Jackie here (Gwen Michaels). I have to say, though I've been at various RP events with you I've never really RPed with you, and this game was such a treat. You were -amazing-.

Billy hired me to find out why you were so seemingly unhappy - he was hoping I'd dig up some dirt that he could use against you to get to Kelly.

I went back to him and said "He's unhappy, Billy, because of the threat of the apocalypse x2 on his wedding night. And I think that's a fair complaint!" Poor Billy had to accept that, and slumped in his seat, resigned to the fact that he wasn't going to be able to pull Kelly away from you.

And you looked amazing! The wig and the glasses... wow.

I really look forward to RPing with you in the future! :)

Thanks Jackie, that's very kind. I enjoyed that exchange we had on the stairs, although I got grief from Kelly for being willing to give you a second chance. It's great to get a chance to game with so many different people.

Given all of the stuff thrown at me by Billy and Coyote that failed to stick maybe I should change the name to 'Captain Teflon'?

Woah. Sounds intense!

I haven't really had any comparable experiences in a LARP, so I'm not sure I can add much here.

Sounds awesome. I've gotten into the (possibly bad) habit of asking to be grouped with people I know in LARPs, mostly because as you say, that relationship provides a safe base for you to "risk" yourself from.

I can see it'd be a tricky balance as you also don't want to miss out on starting new relationships with some of the fantastic people who come along to these events.

That's pretty much it, but then I've also had games where I've been supposed to play stronger relationships with strangers/people I did just not click with and that is not fun.

It was an awesome experience Nick. Thank you it was a very intense game but one that I felt very comfortable in.

Your costume was great, I loved the glasses and the hair so totally in character.

Thank you... It was awesome for me too... I've written to tell your Aunty Lottie all about it. Love 'Mum' http://drbunnyhops.livejournal.com/3926.html
