I just went through all your primers and OH GOD *huge self combustion because of too many adorable Russian feels overload*

I THINK MY SOFT SPOT FOR RUSSIANS JUST BECAME BIGGER OH GOD OH GOD OVI AND GENO AND KOVY AND GONCHAR AND RUSSIANS UGH I CAN'T-

ps- MMG is great (and you might want to include that he's playing with Sergei Gonchar and Nikolai Zherdev) but I, have my own team (NO it's not Dynamo Moscow just because Ovi plays for them and I'm a Caps fan blah blah blah) but it's AK Bars Kazan and I just wanted to take pride in my team beating MMG and Geno is SO XD (I have no idea why this part is here, but it is here so...)

I'm not usually one who, like, tends to root for people based on their nationality, I'm pretty much like ARE YOU ENDEARING? DO YOU LIKE PUPPIES? IF SO I LIKE YOU. But Geno and Gonch, man, cutest cuties or cutest cuties. Best bros! Geno thanking him! MY HEART. (And yes, I will edit that in.)

I have to say, I know exactly three teams in the KHL - Magnitogorsk because of Geno, the Dynamo because of Ovie, and Ak Bars because it's a HILARIOUSLY FUN NAME TO SAY.

I try not to do that, but I think I might have seen to many adorable Russians (and keep on seeing them) so I have grown a bit biased towards them...but, it's not only Russians, I mean I like everyone (Swedes, Finns, Canadians, Americans, etc.)~

I just started following the KHL this year, so I'm still getting to know all the teams, but AK Bars has been my top team because of my tumblr friends (they persuaded me into watching the KHL and getting a team) :)

This is an absolutely awesome update to your already wonderful Geno primer, so thank you! He is just so ridiculously adorable.

I'm so glad you think he's not happy in Magnitogorsk. I mean, that sounds terrible, but I've been looking at these pictures of him on the ice lately and going BUT HE LOOKS MISERABLE! I thought maybe the Russian media just published the pictures where he looked more serious for some reason, but then I saw the videos of his goals and nope, he doesn't look like his normal happy self. Poor Geno.

Also, speaking of adorable Russians, YAY GONCHAR! He's a gem, even in that terrible pink shirt with the collar up.

HE REALLY ISN'T. I just added some new interviews I found and also his helmet (HALF OF WHICH IS DEDICATED TO THE PENS UGH) and just, GENOOOOOOOOO. BABY. COME BACK.

Gosh, I love Sergei so much, even with his terrible polos. That is the depth of my love for him.

I just read King of Russia, which is a book by the Canadian coach for Magnitogorsk the year before Geno left for Pittsburgh, and I just have all these FEELS about how Geno will feel like he's reverted to his eighteen-year-old self and WHY DID HE GO THROUGH ALL THAT SHIT JUST TO BE BACK 6 YEARS LATER.

Gonchar is awesome and I always wonder why there isn't any Geno/Sergei fic. I mean, I know he's married with two adorable daughters but it's not like families haven't been handwaved before in fic (I'm looking at you, Estaal.) Or keep the kids, have Xenia out of the picture somehow. Geno would be a great step-dad!

I have the same response to Geno/Sergei I have to whenever someone brings up Sid/Mario, which is torn between wanting to be supportive of fannish choices and not kinkshame and the voice in my head going OH GOD NO WHY WHY WHY WHY. I think it's because Geno so clearly adores all of Sergei's family, first of all, and second of all, that Sergei seems so clearly enamored with his wife, and third of all, that Geno seems so clearly enamored with Sid, and fourth of all, that Geno regularly characterizes their relationship as brotherly or refers to Sergei as his brother that it takes it to a weird place. IDK. THOSE ARE MY TWO CENTS.

russian athletes tend to look really miserable, even when they're not (geno is an anomaly i guess haha) so idk if he actually is, he might just be channeling his inner aliya mustafina to fit in lol.

idk about his happiness but i did expect a slight drop-off in his play, considering he's basically been amazing for an entire season and then an international tournament. whatever it is, i hope he gets over that hump.

heh i was thinking about sidney playing in the khl and it'd be a great experience for him but just imagining it is utterly hilarious lol. trying to find health food stores and walking around in yellow crocs~~

Sleep is hard because internet.

My hatred of that jacket is only exceeded by my hatred of Claude's plaid. And you know how I feel about Claude's plaid.

So, here's the thing. I def shipped sid/geno, in the same way I ship most hockey players: they are adorbs together and clearly in love, but like, hi, I would not hit that unless I was a serious amount of JD in. (Then again, if you knew me (you dont, so let me tell you) you'd realize my life is one continuous bar hop while I watch hockey and soccer (THEY OVERLAP ON BOTH ENDS NORMALLY, SO I AM NEVER WITH OUT!), so thanks to the Sounders and the Canucks I am usually a good bit of JD in).

BUT NOW, thanks to you, I FIND THIS MAN RIDICULOUSLY ATTRACTIVE AND WOULD SEEK HIM OUT FOR CHILDREN. Which, also something I was not ever going for. But this made my ovaries hurt and I am so in love with his FACE OMG and I am blaming you. <3333333333333333333333333333
