I wrote Buffy a letter because I can't bring myself to call her. It's a cop out, but I'm having trouble when I think about him. Six years now and a little part of me is still lost.

WE GOT POWER!!! Sometime last night, two weeks since evacuation, our street lit up! I feel guilty and I feel strange. Like I don't even know what to do with it. I've been so "Little House on the Prairie" that it was almost a culture shock to have it back again. Parents still without, but they took off to Rockport for the weekend. I just got my first Starbuck's in over a week. I know it's a petty thing, but for me it is great comfort. I'm calm and clearheaded...

I was at work all day today. Jason spent all day moving cats back to our house, helping Vinnie at Neptune Subs and moving all our stuff out of Dad's office. Then we find out Seabrook still has no water, electricity, gas OR sewer. That last one is a deal breaker. We've been kicked out of the hospital (totally reasonable). We are finally at our "shelter" in Webster (another mandatory evacuation area) at my dad's medical office. The cats (9) are settled in the waiting room. Jason's most valuable possessions (mostly music gear and photos) are on exam tables up off the floor. The dog has free roam of the hallways. We are (obviously, mandatory) evacuating. Dad is on call at Clear Lake ER, so he and Mom are going to stay in the hospital and Jason and I will be in his office building behind it. Worst case, we can get to the hospital too. They may even give us a room there ( Read more... )

Fyi... Will make evacuation decision tomorrow. If we do, we (Mom, Dad, Jason and I) will fly somewhere yet to be determined. Cats will have to stay behind.

Well, Emogene's funeral was beautiful. A bit "churchy" for my tastes, but perfect for her. It was a gorgeous sunny day that welcomed us to the graveside service. I got to see so many people that I haven't seen in years at the reception. Quite a celebration of life. I haven't enjoyed people so much in a long time ( Read more... )
