How many more useless holidays do you people have? "Mother's Day"? Honestly? What is the point? Wonderful, you have or you had a female parent. Good for you, good for her, but what is the point of celebrating it? Most people have a mother out there somewhere, but celebrating the fact seems like it just shows it off to people who cannot say a ( Read more... )

...Some time... a day to remember, it is good. It is so easy to forget what was, what is, what shall be and what never was.

You speak as if you miss your Mada-ma also?

Perhaps so, but not here. What does it do but make everyone hurt?

...No.

Kinda got into an argument with someone over the same thing.
I think it's less about the fact you have a mother, and more about appreciating her. Last I heard of that talk in 7th grade, giving birth is painful.

But hey, who says the holiday has to have one meaning?
[BANG!]
...Yeah, if you can hear that, I'm gonna apologize. It'll only get worse.
Personally, I'd count Groundhog's Day as kinda useless.

Most worthwhile experiences in life start with a little pain, or can include quite a lot of it after a time. But no one has "National Sex Day" or "It Was Worth Breaking Your Leg Tobogganing Day." And apparently there is a "Father's Day" as well, which honestly seems even more useless than this holiday, considering fathers in general do not do a whole lot compared to a mother.

I will not ask about the noises, but...what in hell is "Groundhog's Day"?

Ah, It's a day when these little weasel looking animals called Groundhogs come out. Apparently, if they see their own shadow, it reveals if we have six more weeks of winter or not.

See, that is exactly my point. What does this holiday do except hurt the people who do not have anything to celebrate, and hurt the ones who do because they have no way to see their mothers in this place?

...I do not think we have met, by the way. My name is Razer; and you?

...it wasn't your fault, Razer.

She wouldn't blame you for it.

Yes it was, and yes she would. You did not know my mother.

Then she wasn't a good mother, and she wouldn't deserve a holiday anyway.

I'm sorry, Razer. You deserve better.

No, she was not, and I have known that for a while.

But I did not deserve any better. It balanced out.

But yeah, I can see why we don't have this holiday back home.

Yes, right, whatever. Heaven forbid I have personal experiences to draw on.

...It really does not make much sense for our world, does it? Perhaps that is the real problem; a form of culture shock.
