What a powerful essay. I had no idea you were going through all that. May the Lord hold you in His hands; I will hope and pray that everything will turn out well for you, for Cambodia, for China, and for our own suffering nation.

Americans only understand things in bits and pieces from what we are told. I have a dear friend of Ed's who is an Australian who lived in Vietnam that wanted movies or such that talked about the country, not the war. Not easy to find in Michigan.

I am sorry that you are living in a powder keg. At least when things blow up here, the surrounding people can document and try to make things right. Over there, it seems like you would be quite trapped.

(Though I suspect that the American embassy would be able to help you, even if your passport didn't generally work.)

There is so much history that we learn that is objectively wrong. It's a pity that the people who surround you are being effectively gaslit.

The embassy is closed due to COVID.
