its not that im close minded to the "african american" community, its that i cant stand they way some PEOPLE talk, act, and think. i have a lot of friends from all kinds of races. thats besides the point. i respect emenim because he has something to say worth hearing, but if all your going to talk about is how much of a bad ass you are, and how many bitches you have, then your music is trash, your words mean nothing,and u sound like an idiot, and i dont want to wast my time listening to your "music". it gives me a headach. not only that but like i said, when people try to walk and talk all "gagsta" i really do feel sorry for them... if they .only know just how dumb they look/sound.....music today lacks meaning. a big reason for this is everyone thinks its cool to look and feel like a bad ass, thus the message in most rap. no one thinks for them selfs they let MTV tell them whats cool. not to manny people that listen to most rap think about things any deeper then. "aww shit thats tight" or "that bich is fine!" no one talks about life

Hey, I'm Kim's friend, Dyson, and I would just like to inform you that not all rap is unintelligent. As a matter of fact, groups like Jedi Mind Tricks, Aesop Rock, and Atmosphere (which are more hip-hop, but I'm sure you couldn't tell the difference), talk about social issues, political issues, and their thoughts on religion. They are all well educated. Your argument would be a lot more solid if you said mainstream rap, because yes, that is mindless babling, but there still is talent behind what they do. All I'm trying to say, don't talk shit about a genre if you haven't heard enough of it to make a decent argument.

thats awsome. like i said to kim there is some of it i can stand BECUASE! like i also said wich you probably over read as i can see from you post above, that they have something worth hearing to say... with that said, i think it was pretty clear that was "talking shit" about music that i was listening to at work.
