well i went to sleep feeling alright, but i woke up relatively inconsolable.

I don't know you. I don't even know you, but it makes me a little sad to think of you going to LA. But if that's where you need to be, then that's that. Maybe if I went to Lipscomb I could be there to say "hey man. it's alright." but I suppose livejournal is the only poor subsititute I can use. LA may not be ready for you.
