[Rogue has spent this entire experiment week completely unaffected. If she were the kind of person inclined to use blackmail, that would be just peachy. Instead, after figuring out the theme, she's gone from resigned to amused to bitter in the blink of an eye. Kind of the Malnosso to remind her that fairy tales and happily ever afters just aren'

Well. This place is pretty lousy. Can't argue with that.
[And here they are. Gambit stops where he is, not bothering to go up the walkway towards the house. This is a boundary that he will respect for the time being. He nods in the general direction of the house.]
Think you oughta be fine from here, non? Unless Storm's still kidnappin' princesses or somethin'.

[She's not sure how she feels about him 'dropping her off' here as if she needs to go in and rest. But... between the psyche rush a bit earlier and then using Nala, Rogue could use some time to clear her head. Not to mention that she needs to work on getting over whatever just happened - including sorting into place the fact that she just had a quasi-friendly conversation with Gambit.] I'm pretty sure I can manage the walk up the path to the doorway.
[She leans towards it as if to start. And yes, she is preparing to walk off with your coat.]

[Yes. Yes, she is preparing to take off with his coat in tow. Somewhere in the back of his mind, there's a nagging thought that the master thief is getting his coat lifted, and this is not right. It's a very nice coat, after all. And it's the only one he has in this giant glass bowl.
...But she probably needs it more right now anyway. Besides, it's not like she'll never give it back. Somehow he doubts she's keeping it out of sentimentality.
Even though she's walking off with the remainders of his card ammunition. Alas.]
Guess this's the end of the road for now, then. [Here, he can keep up the Prince Charming charade long enough for a bow.] 'Til we meet again, chere.

...the bow, however, flusters her a little. She tries to hide it, but her eyes go wide and give her away.]
Right.
[Lame come back, Rogue. Lame! Don't you have anything better to say than this? No? ...then you'd better beat a quick retreat, girl. And that is just what she starts to do, his coat still draping her shoulders - and then she realizes that she doesn't really want to have to find him and give it back, or explain to anyone in the house just how she got this rather distinctive accessory...
She pauses, her back to him, and struggles to shrug it off. It shouldn't be hard, but her limbs feel heavy and the coat isn't exactly light.]

And then she remembers the coat.
Shaking his head amusedly, he walks up the pathway after her and, with surprising gentleness, helps to lift the coat off her shoulders. That tiredness is showing far more than you may care to admit, Rogue.]
Changed your mind 'bout holdin' on to this?

She gives a derisive sniff, inhaling the distinctive scent of cigarettes, leather, and cologne. Rogue glances over her shoulder at him, her lips pulling down into a light frown.]
Like I'd want it stinkin' up the place.
[And she takes a half-step and turns to face him more fully. He was too close like that.]

That comeback will earn a low chuckle, though.]
Can't be that bad.
[After all, they made it this far without her complaining.]

Ya say that because you're used to it. Didn't anyone ever tell ya that cigarettes are bad for your health?
[...she can't believe she's even having this conversation.
And no. No, she didn't complain. Really, if pressed and forced to be completely honest... Rogue didn't exactly mind the smell.]

Although, in hindsight, he's a little surprised Colossus didn't play Mom with them more often.]
Y'know, I think I mighta heard that somewhere along the line. But then again, can't let someone else tell you how to live your life, non?

However long that may be?
[She shifts her weight back. Yeah. It's time for her to go. She feels more exposed in the softness of this dress than in some of her more risque summer options. A quirk of an almost smile at him, a slight shake of her head, and Rogue turns around to head back to the house once again.]

[And with a slight wave, he'll turn as well and start off. Maybe not back to his apartment yet, but he'll leave the X-Men in peace.]
'Night, chere.
