Once you live in Shepaug for a while, you begin to notice that many people have different quirks and personalities despite the generic mainstream bullshit. That's how I can tolerate my surroundings.

I never realized it when I lived down there because more than likely I would be exactly like everybody else...

Mmm, you were kind of similar to your close friends. I guess the only reason I kinda/sorta escaped this affliction was I didn't really have any close friends in middle school. I'm not bemoaning my fate there, I'm rather glad I didn't.

I am somewhat offended by the assumption that you'd be "like everyone else." And also other people thinking Connecticut is some rich snob state. It's more like all the small little hick villages are full of the rich preppy snobs, and the bigger towns and cities are full of all the kids who are sick and tired of being controlled by rich snobs who live on a farm. I love farming communities, don't get me wrong, they're a hell of a lot better than living in some city full of wiggaz with attitudes... but I can't stand the fact that life around here is controlled by people who don't even know what the fuck hardship is. And yeah, Shepaug is a very trendy school anyway that's why I used to go there and egg people with my potato cannon. In terms of New Milford, though... trends come and go but none really spread throughout the entire populations.... and alot of the trends that do develop start with ME! When this happens, I make sure to destroy that trend at least within myself, not to be unique but because I'd rather look like the biggest ( ... )

i know exactly what you're saying. when i was in shepaug, all i felt was like...i was everyone else...or moreso, i was my own person, but i tried to be everybody else because that was the only way i could get friends.

once i moved out of washington and went to a different school, i realized that there was such thing as being different on the outside as well as on the inside.

of course, in the span of about two or three years the majority of my friends were shepaugers, but the shepaugers i had befriended were all those exceptions you speak of.

the thing about shepaug is that everybody grew up in the same situation. parents make a lot of money, silver spoon in their mouths. everyone had it easy, so they all grew up spoiled. it's the environment that really made them that way.

but hey, the ones that aren't like everybody else are some of the best people around.
