well i haven't noticed a lot of physical benefits yet because i have the january blues/fighting off colds. i have stopped having bad cravings for sugar, though. it took about a week before i stopped having cravings. now i can tell that any sugar i might want is strictly psychological. i found it helps a lot to read blogs/articles/books/movies about how unhealthy sugar and processed foods are because it helps with keeping motivated. i quit for 9 days in december, took a break for christmas, and started up again.... i found that the second time around was MUCH harder for whatever reason. but i knew i could go at least 9 days and wanted to beat that record. it helps to find some naturally sweetened alternatives for when you REALLY want something sweet, so after dinner instead of having a cookie i would eat unsweetened applesauce with cinnamon, or greek yogurt with honey, or unsweetened dried fruit (mango...YUM). stay away from "sugar-free" things because they usually have aspartame or gross chemical sweeteners which in my opinion ( ... )

the key to not eating the sweets when you work around them is DO NOT EVEN LET YOURSELF HAVE A LITTLE LICK. it seems harder the first couple of days, but i found that helped A LOT. when i quit in december i was still cheating a tiny bit with itty bitty crumbs, but i think that actually made it harder. this time, i have literally not put any tiny bit of baked good or icing in my mouth, even to lick my fingers, and i think that's how i have been able to beat the cravings. it helped me to realize at work, that most of the time i thought i was craving sugar, i was really just thirsty or hungry. luckily for me, since we are also a coffee house, we have a million hot teas that i could drink whenever i thought i wanted something to eat ( ... )
