Questions, questions, I get questions.

"Are you ready?"I dislike this one, but I work hard not to let on when people ask. Am I ready? I don't know. I guess I'm as ready as I'm going to get. It is what it is. Are there things I wish I'd done differently? Of course. Did I do what I could, when I could? Yes, absolutely. Do I think I'll get ( Read more... )

I've gotten the "are you ready?" one many times now, and I always say "How would I even know if I'm ready?" Generally followed by a "I'm as ready as I can be, and as I'm gonna be."

I'm depending on you to win, too. And tell the finish line I'm coming, and to have pizza ready.

Instead, allow me to give you a few questions effendi June 15 2007, 21:01:28 UTC
1) How do you plan on dealing with negative thoughts?
2) Pedal while peeing?
3) Run nutrition plan?

and my personal favorite dying-to-know question

Is your finish photo going to have you stopping your watch as you cross the line like a true Type-A triathlete?

1) I know it's a low and there another high coming any minute. Eat, it might be low blood sugar. Also I have a long list of "mantras" to recite to keep my mind busy and crowd out negative thoughts.

2) Coast, not pedal

3) Typically alternate water and sports drink at aid stations. Gel approximately every 4th aid station. If it gets long and/or dark, it's time to start the chicken broth.

4) Faithful traininglog-readers know that I throw my arms in the air in a V.

I havent posted in ages. But your post got me thinking about what I dont like....especially for this race. I have not really trained well (lack of motivation, guilt over family time, etc, etc). Anyway, when people ask me if I'm ready, I start to tell them about my anxiety over my lack of prepartation and they invariably say, "Oh, you'll do fine, you've done this so many time already." Nobody wants to hear me say what I am really feeling. I always feel like they just dismiss me and tell me I'll be fine. I dont think anybody really wants to know how I feel. sigh...

nervous is good. everyone asks DB if he still gets nervous before a talk. he does. every time. nervous is a good thing, like you said, it shows respect for what is coming up
