Hi everyone . . . I know I need to write an intro post, and I'm going to include a plea for responses and advice and reassurances right away - sorry for the greed!
Thank you thank you thank you. Excellent advice, and I will follow up on lots of it. It's good to know there are others in the same situation (at least in some ways). :)
In re #4, you could always be truthful but misleading and say that, due to a medical condition with endocrinological side-effects, he doesn't produce sperm.
That was the plan before the ob/gyn wanted a copy of his sperm analysis and wants to sign me up for the uterus dye/ x-ray test. I would love to still do that!
Oh, and I can tell you from my own experience -- Lambda Legal's motto is that they'd much rather you call them for a free consult BEFORE you do whatever it is that might require you to get a consult from them AFTERWARDS.
In my case, it means we're legally changing my name (but not my gender marker) before the birth of our firstborn, because Illinois is utterly stupid about changes on birth certificates, and if I changed my name later there'd always be a scratch-out and correction on my daughter's birth cert.
Thank you so much for this. It helps to know success is possible & how he might be feeling. He's about the same age as you and started transitioning at about the same time too. Your comment has made me feel much much better and more hopeful about this whole thing. Thanks again (times a hundred!), and I will most likely be picking your brain in the near future. :)
