Damned Body

I can't spend a lot of time at my computer right now because I need to encourage my rash to go away, and this isn't the best position for not irritating it. Said rash is a bout of severe allergic eczema, the likes of which I haven't had for a decade or two. First indications of a problem on Tuesday afternoon, woke up with it bad on Wednesday ( Read more... )

Lol.
I'm the opposite. - the reason I wear long sleeves and pants these days is because it reduces contact allergy rashes.
I've found that hydrocortisone cream is a lot more effective than anti-histamine.

My regime:
In a cooler shower than I like, use soft cotton to apply olive oil with a few drops of eucalyptus to clean off any residue of what set the rash off in the first place.
When you get out, don't dry the area over the rash.
apply the hydrocortisone cream, and let it soak in.
Apply the blue-cross antiseptic cream you can get at the chemist. It has a numbing agent that stops the itching that the HC causes.
Apply a thin layer of bepanthen hypo-allergenic.

Use the hydrocortisone cream only twice a day, but I find that I need to reapply the blue cross and bepanthen every 5-6 hours.

Eczema isn't an allergic condition, though it can be triggered by an allergic response. By the time I know I've been in contact with an allergen, it's way too late for cleaning to prevent it. And for me, the trigger isn't always an allergen - the shoes things is because my own sweat can be the trigger.

For me, the only medication that I've ever found to be really effective is betnovate. Unfortunately the moron doctor I saw prescribed the wrong strength, but applying it sparingly (because stronger than normal) it seems to have been effective. I can only do so much with it on a rash that starts below my knees and extends above my waist, though, and I think I now have a couple of patches of dead skin that won't heal until they completely dry out and flake away.

Sorry, yeh I get both.
My own sweat and tears will set off my eczema, but sometimes it flares up for absolutely no reason.
The HC takes away the red inflammation within 24 hours, and the bepanthen puts a barrier over, meaning that the sweat doesn't aggravate it.

Well, I had assumed you were "ill" of some variety and decided not to pry.

Yesterday I went through and coincidentally pulled out all stinging nettles in the two garden beds that I want to turn into veggie gardens, plus any of the other ones I could see around the back yard. There were a few along the edge of the back deck which you might have accidentally come into contact with. I'll try and pull out any I see in future.
