Played a little Einaudi and Chopin this evening for about 20 mins, then spent a similar amount of time on the viola, just working on scales and intonation. Then went for a viola lesson, first one for about 3 months! My viola teacher is so positive and encouraging...but now I have lots more to do! Mainly to do with bowing. Didn't do much piano practice on Friday, then had a composition session in the evening, which basically didn't produce much. Another one scheduled for next Friday (hmmm, this clashes with CAOS rehearsal the following morning, perhaps need to reschedule). Saturday managed to not do any practice at all! The sad fact is that I'm more use to the orchestra on the telephone/computer organising extra players etc than I am playing the viola.

I picked up the Tchaik 5 score from the library today. This evening I worked through the 2nd movement, though didn't quite get to the end. Also set up a viola lesson on Saturday at 3PM.

And on Thursday, a jazz pianist friend of mine is staying over so that should be entertaining! Negligible progress made with the piano today.

I spent an hour this afternoon at the piano; played all major and H minor scales, noted Eb H minor and F H minor to be the weakest. Then spent the rest of the time on the Chopin; the 2nd section coming along but not fully learnt. Played a bit of viola but not very productive ( Read more... )

Made a brief start on the Tchaik 5 this evening...a LOT of work needed with less than 3 weeks to the concert!

Not much done on the piano the past few days apart from scales/arpeggios and the three Einaudi pieces.

Today I did the usual warm up (need to stop playing major scales and move on to minors!) then spent an hour or so playing various Einaudi pieces...Passagio and Questa notte are coming along nicely and I might add those to my repertoire. Also working on L'Onde ( Read more... )
