We usually make "one-pot" entrees that I take as lunches to work. But since we had guests this weekend we didn't get to it. But we had some veggies around, needed lunch

No, although Thai basil does have a purplish cast and flowers, the dark purple kind is a variety of Genoa (standard Italian). Thai basil's got smallish, flat leaves, and has a somewhat anise smell/taste on top of the basil smell/taste. We got ours at the State Farmer's Market, and I imagine more and more of the local farmer's markets that sell herbs early in the year will have Thai basil.
