a birthday request

I would really like to find a place around here where I can have an open fire outside and stay up all night looking at the stars through wintry tree branches. Or at least part of the night. Camping is not out of the question, and would be a nice addition. Ideally, it'd be a place where alcohol would be permitted so I could possibly encourage my ( Read more... )

Sometime this winter would be nice.

The birthday request is to learn of this place, don't need to go there on/near my birthday. :-)

Gotcha! Well, one place would be my back yard. Every winter we trim trees, clean up the yard, etc and burn the stuff in a bonfire. We've nicknamed the fire pit Trogdor and the activity "burninating." If you like I will let you know next time we fire up ol' Trogdor and we can sit around it and drink beer/hot chocolate/whatever and watch the yard debris burn.

Another place would be our firepit by the water at the lakehouse. Winter is no good for our jetski or big boat, but we have kayaks and a dock that's good to fish from. Lots of nice nature there too. The Army Corps has done a good job of keeping the ecosystem healthy at Kerr Lake. Bald eagles, herons, osprey, tons of fish...

Yes! I'd love to attend the Burninating. :-)

And Kerr Lake is *W*O*N*D*E*R*F*U*L* - discovered the joys of summertime no-tent beach camping there.

I'd be interested, depending on my many other obligations, of course.

But it involved dancing naked under the moon, I'm keeping my shoes on this time.

Closest thing I can think of is our backyard. We have a fire pit thingy. We have trees. You can drink. You can pitch tents if it pleases you. You can even smoke stuff or whatevs, I'm down with that.

Behind and to the side of us is wooded area, not houses. The closest house to the backyard is across a gravel drive and off to the side, not up in our faces.

So if nothing better comes open, you can always park it here with us.
