the good thing about being accident prone is that i have lots of scar & accident stories to tell at parties: my forehead from running into the fireplace at age three, my collarbone from falling off a chair while baking cookies at age three, above my eyebrow from running into a desk at age five, my inner thigh from when i didn't land a figure ( Read more... )

speaking of pool accidents. when i was 12 i did a 'back dive' off the side of the pool, ended up flipping all the way around and cracking open the top of my head on the side of the pool. it didn't hurt until the lifeguard started walking towards me and screeching 'your head! your head!' and then the blood trickled into my eye and i was in shock for awhile. it actually wasn't that bad of an injury. 15 stiches, not much pain. but i had to sit in the emergency room for hours wearing a gigantic uncomfortable neck brace - because they couldn't get that it wasn't really a 'diving accident' and my neck was in no danger; and they had to cut my hair in a big strip on top of my head. ;p ( ... )

i have a scar on my chin. at my old house i liked sitting on our porch railings, in the corner. sometimes older kids would come by and sit on the railings, but not at the corner, just on one side, balancing themselves (does that make sense?). anyway, one day i thought i'd act like an older kid and sit on the railings, but i couldn't keep my balance and fell chin first on the concrete. i remember my chin kind of itching, and my friends screaming at the blood, and then my parents drove me to the hospital :D

The scars on my head:
1) age 4 - my uncle's dog bit me on the face. I still have a small scar on my right cheek.
2) age 7 - I decided to wear my (completely traction-free) dress shoes during gym class. We were doing jumprope. I fell forward landing straight on my chin (much like Teri in the above story). For a few years afterwards, people told me there was still a mark in the gym floor where I fell.
3) age 9 - I suffered a mid-air collision with a friend of mine while on the trampoline together. His teeth cut into the back of my head, and he somehow wound up with a giant gash on the side of his cheek. There was blood all over the trampoline. My daycare had never seen anything so scandalous.

PS: I just realized after talking to Teri this week that this is Lesley! Hi Lesley.

the only scar I have is a small cluster of them on the bridge of my nose from when we hit the moose....oh and a little bit on my forhead but it's almost non-existant.

When I was in grade five I was running towards the slide and jumping onto it to make me go down faster. Well once I did that but my feet landed on the slide instead of my bum and I fell forward face first into the ice at the bottom. I blacked out while walking into the school (I don't remember walking half the time) and when I finally got to look at myself in the mirror half my face was gone. It was pretty gross...but no scars! amazing. Although I almost broke my nose...
