[yawning Ensign is going off of shift, and doesn't see the tall green guy till she nearly runs into him and makes a quick change in direction to keep from walking straight into a collision] Eep! Scuse me, so sorry.
[crosses arms, still amused] I see...you realize however, being from medical, I have access to all sorts of hypos and sharp instruments? [it's said seriously, but her eyes are still laughing so it's plain that she's kidding...no way she would follow through on such a threat...if they had been good friends prior to this, she probably would have socked him in the arm, affectionately like she used to do to her cousin]
Hypos don't scare me. I've been hypoed since as long as I can remember. Now sharp instruments, that's getting a little medieval. Don't go Kevorkian on me. I'm not ready to go just yet. *grin*
[looks slightly confused at the word Kevorkian but figures it must be some type of alien] Really? You've been hypoed that much? Wouldn't have anything to do with Dr. McCoy would it? [leans in] They call him the hypospray ninja. But you didn't hear that from me.
*He chuckles.* No. Dr. McCoy figured out shortly after being a ninja with me that it was less fun being a ninja when the subject wasn't trying to avoid him. No I, uh, I grew up on earth and since so little is known about Orion biology and anatomy I had frequent scheduled visits to the physician there. He specialized in off world upbringings and off world species. Dr. David Joy. Really good guy. Wrote a few medical journals. Was never affiliated with Starfleet, though.
*He smiles.* And I'll be sure to keep that to myself. *He winks.*
Ah, I see. [trying to imagine what it would be like to grow up on another planet] That doesn't sound fun. Though, I guess that's good for the doctor to learn more about biology and anatomy for future reference.
[colors slightly at the wink, he's quite the charmer, covers it by rubbing her nose as if it itches] How far did you sleepwalk? From your quarters, I mean? [she's mildly curious, who knows if there's a sleepwalking distance record or something]
*He's never known anything except growing up on earth, so he wouldn't know what it's like to grow up on "another planet."*
He helped me a great deal. Sometimes it was uncomfortable but I can't imagine any other kind of growing up. It was so normal to me. In fact, when the visits weren't required as frequently I'd call Dr. Joy and ask if he was sure he didn't need me to come in.
*He grins at her blush but doesn't say anything about it.* Yeah, I guess I did walk from my quarters. It's near medical. Geeze, how far is that anyway? *He rubs the back of his head in thought and there's that sore spot again. His hand migrates to the top of his head instead.*
Sounds like he's almost family for you if you saw that much of him.
[leaning over to a console to check with the computer] Wow, about three corridors worth. That's pretty impressive. [wondering if he wants to walk back to his quarters, she'd be willing to make sure he gets there alright]
He was! Like a crazy uncle with hyposprays and lollipops.
*He rises and looks over her shoulder, whistling.* When I sleepwalk, I don't mess around. Better remember to lock my door in case it happens again.
*He rubs his arms.* Mm. Cold. Time for the trek back, I guess. *Smiles.* I appreciate the help. Uh. Jessica? Sorry. *He can't bring up her name. It's not like she didn't tell him just a few minutes ago.*
*He chuckles at her giggle. Then raises his eyebrows at her point.*
I can barely work technology when I'm awake, let alone asleep. I'm planning on getting up early tomorrow morning in order to recall how to unlock my door. My shower is still a mystery to me in some ways. If my sleepwalking self can unlock the door with more efficiency than my awake self I think I'll have bigger problems than sleepwalking. Repressed technological savant? *He laughs at the concept.*
Jackie. Jackie. *Nods.* Great! You'll find I'm a lot more interesting when I'm awake. I only fall off tables a fraction of the time I do when I'm asleep.
[grins at that] If you're right about that, you could work at a console fast asleep, it would be a dream job. [pun fully intended] I can help to a point with the tech stuff, though if it gets complicated, you'd probably want an engineer's help.
Short for Jacqueline, but that takes too long to say. [laughs] You're already interesting enough asleep, if I may say. [starts moving in the direction of his quarters, walking slowly so they can talk as they go]
*He laughs at her pun.* Thank you, I need all the help I can get.
*His brows shoot up at her comment.* Well, that's good to know. I'm really a lot more sociable awake, though. *He crosses his arms. He's cold but he doesn't make a bit show of it, more interested in the conversation. He walks much slower than usual, his long legs shortening their stride.*
[she appreciates the shortened stride so she can keep up easily enough] How long have you been a ship's counselor? [too bad she doesn't have a blanket or something for him]
Not long. I just started this five year stretch. I was a grief counselor at the Academy after the Romulans attacked. Before that I had my own practice in San Francisco, not too far from my family. *He smiles.* This is the furthest I've been away from home, actually.
*He looks down at his feet as he dawdles his strides and looks back up at her.* What about you? You're a medical technician? Not sure what that means. You work the medical equipment? *He takes a stab at a guess.*
It's sort of more technical side of things than the nurses are. More the equipment and handing the doctor stuff. I was thinking of taking some extra courses so I could go on more away missions, but I haven't settled on what ones to take.
[pauses when he does] You miss home? Being so far away from it and all?
[...are those pjs?]

Sounds like a plan. Although, I should point out that you'll still know how to unlock it. Better have the computer lock it for you.
Jackie [she corrected him, it's not like he hasn't had a giant shock recently or anything :)] I'll walk you back, I live down that way.
