[yawning Ensign is going off of shift, and doesn't see the tall green guy till she nearly runs into him and makes a quick change in direction to keep from walking straight into a collision] Eep! Scuse me, so sorry.
Mm. Away missions. I don't even know if I'm allowed to go on those. Seeing real sky would be nice from time to time.
*He nods.* I do. I have a lot of family on earth. Humans, by the way, not Orions. *He grins.* Still. I'm really close to everyone. It's definitely a change. You're used to being away?
You could put in for shore leave, everyone has to get that now and again.
Yeah, well...I don't have any family that keeps in touch anyway. They've all got lives of their own. This is more home to me than anything.
[snaps her fingers at an idea] Y'know...if the homesick stuff is causing the sleepwalking, maybe it would get better if you got to go planetside for a bit? I'm sure Dr. McCoy would clear you, he's an advocate for shore leave. He's been trying to get the Captain to take shore leave for months now.
*He nods at all she says, taking some interest in her being at home on the Enterprise. He then shrugs at her idea.*
Yeah, but, I don't really know how all of this works. If I put in for planetside, I don't want to make the whole ship turn around. I wouldn't want to interrupt a mission just to go home for a few days. And, honestly, before the sleepwalking I really didn't think it was that bad. But you might be right. *He nods.* Works that way sometimes. The subconscious knows better than the conscious. Feelings don't just go away. I think someone had said we'll be in communication range with earth in a few days. I'll see if talking to the fam helps any. If not, I'll put in for planetside. Scouts honor. *He grins.* And if that doesn't work then I'll invest in wearing a bell around my neck.
Sounds like a plan. And if you don't mind it not being Earth, shore leave can be on other planets as well. That wouldn't interrupt anything so long as you go when you're assigned.
[covers a snicker at the picture of the green skinned man wandering the halls with a bell ringing around his neck] Oh dear...
ooc: have to say, love playing against your character! one of the best, if not the best, star trek OC's I've threaded with. :D
I wouldn't mind other planets. I've never really been to any other planets. That I can remember. Apparently I'm not from earth. Or so they tell me. *He smirks.*
*He goes to put his hands in nonexistent pockets. He grunts in disappointment and shoves his fingers under his arms again. Because Orion males, at some point, did have hair goosebumps can be seen rising on his arms.*
I could tie a rope from my ankle to my bed post. I don't know how many times I could take waking up with a mouth full of carpet and carpet burned face. I'm not sure how well my clients would trust me. I would hope that it would make me endearing as apposed to senile.
((ooc: What a nice thing to say! Thank you! They have a great dynamic. ...and I might be madly in love with Miss Deschandel.))
Other planets are cool....though you always have to watch out for stuff that could kill you. Plants, people, animals....
[she crinkles up her nose at that idea] Ow. Maybe you could get a seatbelt for the bed instead?
....and out of curiosity, if you bruised, would it be green? Or something else?
ooc: you're welcome! this is kind of an offshoot verse for her really, she started as a Psych muse and kind of grew from there. :) They should have some sort of action-y story line at some point, that would be fun.
Earth tried to kill me once. *He nods.* Plants. Had a bad reaction to a botanical garden walk. Put me in a pretty tricky situation.
*He laughs* Seatbelt, huh? Maybe a helmet too. Then my patients would really take me seriously.
*He shook his head.* Even though my blood's greenish I bruise sort of brown and red. Sort of like you bruise purple and blue even though you're blood is red. Here. I actually think...*He pauses and leans against the hallway wall.* ...that I have one on my knee from the fall. *He pulls up his pants and sure enough there's a good sized bruise.* Yeah, see? Sort of looks like a strawberry with the brown dots. Kinda...hard to see, though, because of my skin. But I'm pretty pale. Wrong sun for a tan. *He grins.*
But, yeah, because my blood is sort of coppery without oxygen. Here. *He offers his wrist to her.* Sort of have brown-red veins. *He's not shy about informing her. He's almost enthusiastic about it. He rarely gets the questions people are embarrassed about.*
Earth's no picnic either I suppose. I had a friend near die from a bee sting so pretty much anything can be hazardous in the right conditions.
[deadpans] Only if you have a motorbike to go with them.
[and since she barely knows anything about Orion physiology, she's liking being able to get answers straight from the source] [peering at his bruises and veins] Cool...coppery blood, like old fashioned wiring.
*He laughs.* If you could get me a motorbike that would be a deal. Hell, if you could get me a genuine 20th century Harley Davidson I'd do anything. Almost.
*He inspects his own veins with her.* Huh. Yeah, I guess so. Then again, I'm pretty old fashioned. My parents were never people who celebrated the great strides in technology.
totally making this up based on the new Star Trek moviepsychette10December 22 2010, 22:58:09 UTC
My cousin used to have one...but I've only ever ridden on the newer hovering models. They're supposed to be safer too...
Didn't care for computers, huh? I've heard of people like that, but there aren't too many around. Most everyone on Earth has to get used to pushing buttons or similar.
totally okay with thatgreen_psydDecember 24 2010, 00:28:31 UTC
There in lies the problem. They're safe. There's no fun in something like that if there's not a sense of danger involved. The thrill of taking a turn is that you know that if you're off a little you'll go skidding into the street. Or off a cliff.
*He picks up their walking, wanting to arrive at his nice, toasty room.*
It's not that we didn't have computers. Just not the latest ones. Like you say, everyone on Earth has to get used to pushing buttons. Ours were just ten years behind everyone else's.
*Pause.* On deeper introspection, I think I'd take a good Californian wave over a motorbike anyday. No helmet needed.
[...are those pjs?]

Good idea. They don't hurt as much when you fall down too. Unless of course you're using a holographic motorbike.
