Cloth diaper has really changed! There are all sorts of styles and options. Most velcro or snap closed. AIO are all in ones where the diaper is one piece. Fitteds are made out of an absorbent cloth but need a waterproof cover. Pockets are waterproof but have an envelope style pocket for an absorbent insert. HTH!

AIOs/All-In-Ones: Cloth diapers that are just a one-piece system...similar to disposables except you chuck them into a wetbag or a dry pail instead of a garbage bin.

Pockets: These are like AIOs, in that they're waterproof on the outside except they have a pocket inside the diaper where you put an absorbent insert.

Fitted Diapers: These are sort of the opposite of pockets. The diaper is absorbent but not waterproof, so they need a cover of some sort.

The newest cloth diapers are super easy! Check this out http://www.cottonbabies.com/product_info.php?cPath=98&products_id=1481. And it fits a child from about 10lbs to 30lbs! They are a great way to save money, the environment, and she'll save her babies' skin from all the chemicals in disposables!

Not really. What teacup9 said. And the only hassle is that I'd have to do laundry more often...but I have a machine; it's not like it's the end of the world. The only drawback is that it uses more water, so I'll have to cut down on water usage in other areas of my life to make up for it.

Cloth diapers are definitely doable! I explained the terms in my response to Chloe here. And the prints and colors are really cute!

Thanks for the explanation, and especially the ideas for inexpensive fitteds. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to give them a try, but at least know I know where to look!

(I'm not on imamother because I've heard too many horror stories about that website. Is it not really that bad?)

What sort of horror stories? I guess it all depends on if you post something you wouldn't want anyone to find out or if you could get in trouble for being on the internet at all. I work on the internet and I wouldn't lose face in my community for doing so. I've posted annoymously before, but never for anything so big just like when I felt stressed about a guest and something my mother said (I don't for sure my mother and no one that knows her is on the site). But there are ways to use it without drama I am guessing. I mostly participate in event announcements, naturally minded doctor recommendations, diaper info, funny jokes, etc. I think just asking about diapering in Israel is low drama, you know?

I don't know, nothing specific, just that it's a big drama machine. Although I guess you're right that asking what's available here probably won't stir up too much...maybe I'll check it out, thanks for the tip.
