The last time Aly had  been on this sidewalk, it had been just after a car blew up and they were running from the mob.

This time, at least, there were no explosions.  Except for the random exploding fountain in front of the neon-bedecked hotel to her right.

She turned to raise an eyebrow at her companion.  "This is all your fault.

Aly was certain she would find proof today.  She rummaged through Roy's library, placing every book carefully back on the shelf after she'd checked it.  There was a secret he was hiding.  A big one, and Aly was determined to find it. Aly had spent most of the day walking the island, lost in her own thoughts.  It wasn't a surprise then when she ended up on the beach.  The noise of the waves soothed her as always, and she settled down finally, nervous energy mostly dissipated, as she watched the tide slowly move out, leaving ripples of wet sand and seaweed in its wake.

Aly sorted through the paperwork on her desk, making sure everything was in order before she leaned back in her chair, sipping from her cup of coffee and letting her mind race.  Finally she reached into a drawer and pulled out a fat letter sealed with the signet of the Copper Isles and read it again.

Aly leaned back and closed her eyes, listening to the roar of the surf as it crashed into the bottom of the ramparts.  She was reveling in the warmth and the beauty of the island, so different from Fandom - and so strange after this summer to go somewhere without Fandom taking her there. [For the person with her.]

Aly eyed the television warily then stared at Roy.  "Really?" she asked, sounding less than enthused.  "You want to spend the evening watching talking sharks?"

Aly had spent most of the week observing the newcomers on the island, and now she was reviewing their files, seeing what matched up and what didn't.

With copious breaks for throwing darts at the board on her wall.  The door was open.

Aly studied the two letters she'd received today thoughtfully.  She'd known they had to be in the middle of this, there's no way Alanna would have missed Bridge and Xander's wedding if she hadn't been under the press of Uncle Jon's coronation debacle.  But to receive the tangible proof of it - it made her shudder and hope and send a prayer to the ( Read more... )

Finding herself finished with her workshop and with a whole new bay to explore, Aly found herself at the docks.  There seemed to be enough wind to make it an interesting day on water, and she started checking Elysia over, making sure the little boat was seaworthy and sound.
